I'm not sure what everyone calls it, but it's the bushing that is under the steering wheel, where the tilt and the cam are.

Mine somehow broke or is not how it should be, it's allowing the whole steering wheel down to the tilt to move about an inch in all directions.

Without going to junk yard or in junk yard how would I go in finding one of these? Would almost all year gm columns have this? or would there be somewhere I could get a new one?

I can take a picture if i'm not clear enough on what part it is.
 
Are you sure it's not just the reatining bolts? This happens ALOT on these cars and 99.9% of the time, tightening the retaining bolts fixes the problem.

That is what I thought also, so i opened it up to take a look.

I'll let you know when I take it apart again, and i'll take a few pictures.
 
Those bearings are the same on all GM tilt wheel columns. 1969 and newer(up to 2000). You might even check the HELP rack down at AutoZone or NAPA.
