Hey Guys!
I have a few questions??? What else is new right?!?! Anyway, The past few times I took the car around the block, The gas peddle was sticky. At times its hard to press down. I have bounce my foot on it for it to go down. It doesnt do it all the time but most of the time. I also posted a problem with my tai, lights not working. The shifter light isnt working either. The last thing I did to the car was change the ignition switch. Not the tumbler but the switch. If I did something wrong would it possibly effect the tail lights?
Thanks! Bill

It isn't a toyota is it.

It isn't varnish on the throttle blades

LOL....not a Toyota! Sticky throttle blades? what do you mean exactly? This is my first GN that I am in the process of restoring. I only have the car since October, I've learned alot but not everything..So what are the throttle blades?

Thanks! Bill

Sounds like sumthin is obstructing both your pedals under the dash...

could be a wire harness or something else, see if you can see the limit switch that is toward the top of your brake pedal and be sure when you are not pushing on the pedal that it is closing the switch all the way, you might be able to actually hear it switch if you get your ear close enough.

Whatever is obstructing your brakes is probably messin with your gas pedal too. could be the harness that plugs into the column for the light switch or shifter.

Is this a wisecrack? lol...Are you suggesting that maybe I didnt plug in one of the plugs into the ignition on the column and thats why my tail lights and console lights arent working? Wierder things have happened. I have to recheck. Sometimes I'm just in too much of a rush!

I had the base idle set too low once and the throttle blades would stick in the closed position. Would make you have to press the throttle a little harder to get it off idle, but would be fine once you were underway.

Might check the base idle setting. Does the engine tend to seek at idle, that is change speeds between almost dying then idling too high. That is another symptom of the base idle being off.

If the tail lights are not working the parking lights in the front and the dash lights may not work as well. Here is the circuit from the service manual:

No, Its like its jammed closed and ou have to press it real hard or stamp on it for it to go down. The idel appears ok but alittle high. The tps is at .42 and no SES light. I have to adjust the AIC to lower the idle which I will probably have to readjust the tps but I dont think that would make the peddle stick. As for that schematic, Im a electrician but very rusty with them but I do not see anything in that schematic that shows the tail lights unless that tail going toward the bottom is to the tail lights. If thats the case then the tail lights are part of the light switch and shouldnt have anything to do with the ignition switch as I thought they might. Am I correct?

Check and see if the throtle body has an obstruction in the cable or if its the throtle body itself. If not it has to be the pedal.
