Like the title says, I found something that appears to be a pretty damn good deal, would like to know for sure or not before I drop the money.

It's been repainted once because of the paint fading, has before/after pics, and is bone stock. From what he says, everything works great, the interior could use the headliner replaced, a small rip in the seat, and the floor needs a shampoo.

I've always had a thing for GN's, just never had been in a position to pick one up, and this looks like it could be the perfect time. Was gonna go with an ls1 f-body, but these cars are way too damn sexy lol. I'm not scared to turn a wrench, done pretty well so far, and wouldn't mind joining the Buick community.

On a sidenote, I've been trying to look for a link that could show a basic upgrade path, and what to expect. Obviously the 84's are a bit slower, but from what I have heard in the past, it doesn't take much to wake it up.

It's bone stock now, I was planning on shooting for 11's with the fbody, would like to see about what that would take to get there without going crazy money wise with it. What kind of budget am i looking at, and where should I start looking for parts?

Thanks a bunch guys, appreciate it very much.

Here is a recent thread about the search for upgrades.

There is a link to a few recipe's in the sticky, and, a link to "I met Jamie in BG". Happy reading!

Only a few will take on the challenge of getting a hotair there If ur willing to spend the money and patience to be fast and rare then go for it

I'm still having trouble find the actual differences, seems like everyone just stays away. What is different motor wise? I'm not worried about the turbo, etc, I was a dsm guy and have access to a welder, I would feel comfty fabbing up my own piping/hotside and coldside and have a pretty decent basic knowledge of a turbo charged motor.

On that note...does anyone ever play with spray? Help cool the IAT's, spool faster, plus a bump in power, seems like it's what could really help out.

Motor wise they are very close, and the main difference besides IC and intake/exh system plumbing set-up is; Determination.
If you have fab skills you have nothing to worry about.

Spay is a cheap way to add HP. It's been done, and some are still spraying.
When the Alky Injection kits got developed, spray took a back seat.
A lot of it comes down to your goal, the type of engine management system, and tuning ability.

What is your performance goal?

Consistent 11's, I know I can do it with ease with an ls1 car with basic bolt on's/spray and some suspension/tire, and would like to not be slower than what I had planned.

Goals like this will cost at least $8000-$10,000 at a minimum. The only thing not replaced on your motor will be crank, pistons, water pump and alternator. This includes the transmission. Brad

Mmmm will take alot of work, but the above may be a bit much. I read an article awhile back about a guy who took a bone stock and with 600 or 800 was hitting high 12's. While it takes alot to get another second off, you can do it for less than 8g's. They are hitting 10's with hot air cars. That does take alot of work. But I think you can get into the 11's with the right upgrades pretty reasonable.
