That is a catch 22 right there...which one are you going to want to replace when it blows up? lol
I ran a stock crank/caps with a girdle and there were still signs of crank flex when I pushed it hard enough. Went with a forged crank/stock caps and a girdle, no more issues.
Guys have gone quick either way, but I would work a bit of overtime and not skimp on on or the other. jmo.....:)
 
Steel caps will NOT stop a cast crank from flexing.:)

This makes it very hard on bearings as they will wear uneven.

Of course it is best to do both, my opinion into the elevens, do the crank. When into the 10's, do both.
 
11.00 that's about 120-122 I know all to well how it should be done but I get suckered into these jobs that....never mind... you know how it goes.

Stock caps and dont detonate it. Stock are fine at that level.
