Stock (factory) Aluminum Heads

Has anyone ever heard of or used any stock (factory) aluminum 3.8 heads? I was at a swap meet today and a guy had some for sale. I am absolutely sure that they are 3.8 heads and not later model 3800 heads. They had Buick castings on them and he says that he acquired them from Buick and that they were prototypes. I was skeptical and passed on them at first, then decided to go back and buy them (for $100) but they were gone. They were basically castings with no finish work done. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen or used these.
