Well my stock GN wheel weighed 29lbs before I shipped them off to get widened to 10". Now that I got them back, they weigh 38lbs each! Good thing these are just my show car/cruising wheels that are going to have 325/50/15 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials. But man, thats heavy.

Just figured Id share.

 38lbs Wow !! I always refer to the stock GN wheels on my 86GN as Boat Anchors. My lightweight Buick has GTA wheels which weigh in around 16lbs.

I thought the stock rims weighed more than 29 lbs? Maybe the figure I've heard was with tires mounted.

Thanks,
Art.

Conley says GN wheels weigh 27+# and T's 20+#, so it sounds like you're in good agreement.

Which raises the question - why in the hell would you ever have a GN wheel widened? Seems like you're just going from bad to worse.

Good 'ole GM didn't do us any favors with those wheels. My GN and T wheels are in the basement, and the tits are still on the tires...

The slicks/skinnys on light wheels will be for racing. I wanted a big drag radial on the car for cruising and car shows, and I really like the look of stock GN wheels. I think the 325/50/15 MT DR's on the 10" GN wheels will look pretty good.

I spoke with MT and they are expecting the DR's to become availible in April.

I will post a new thread for sure when the tires are mounted and the wheels are bolted up. Couple' a steam rollers stuffed under there... :D
