What mods are needed to use the stock shifter with the 400..I've done a search, it appears a few have done this...Any downsides? Kinda like the stealth look the stock shifter would give..I see where the shift cable bracket needs to be modified to fit on the 400 pan rail..What else? TIA Scott

Use the stock bracket from the 2004r with the th 400 and attach the shifter cable and steering column linkageback how it was on the the 2004r.Then put the trans and shifter in park .If the shifter wont go to park or the key wont turn loosen the 13 mm nut on the linkage and adjust accordingly .Once this is ok,take the cable bracket ,and line it up to a corresponding pan bolt and fasten it. if it wont line up drill an elongated hole and fasen it with the pan bolt .If its ok drill a 1/8 hole thru the bracket into the pan mounting flange and tap a governor roll pin in there to hold the bracket securely .Stake it if its loose and dont drill like a maniac or it will .Ad just the shifter. Now you must install a normally open 12 volt switch to the gas pedal or the throttle body that closes at full throttle to activate a forced kickdown. You then run a wire from the switch to the electrical connector on the drivers side of the trans .b and m has a kit that uses the original 2004r kickdown cable to do this part #is bmm 20297.Wesell a 2.75 first gear planetary for the 400 making it as ballsy as the 2004r in first gear as far as ratio.check us out at www.ckperformance.com

Thx for the reply Chris..Just what I needed to know. Will a micro switch normally used in nitrous applications work for the kickdown? Even with a TB/valve body the kickdown is needed? Also what planetaries come in a BOP 400? I really don't need the extra "balls" on the bottom as I am running drag radials and need to ease this thing out...Interesting info none the less...May work for my application..may not. Thx Scott

it may if the gage is rite ,but if you run a brake no kickdown reqiured .stockratio is 2.48 1.48 if the motor is insane and you cant hook with radials i make a 2.28 / 1.40 .pretty sneaky huh?

hrm..I may need to look into the 2.28/1.40. Car should run around 133 this season..Not an insane buildup but stout : ) Would you run the hipster brake/vb? I need this thing to ease into second not bust the tires loose..

ID RUN MY BRAKE IF IF WERE ME IT USES SECOND GEAR AND THE BAND TO STAGE .not like anyone elses as far as i know and the boys love it pj in chicago goes 7.10 with it

Didn't know a band was used with a tb valve body..
