Did he re-stall your stocker or give you a whole new convertor? I don't think my stocker will be good enough for my TE-63-1.

My stock D5 would foot stall at 2500. My new CK 9x11 lockup is 3600. I have a PT52 turbo and it's perfect.

My car use to be very weak and it would stall at 2500 rpm with the stock D5. 2050 is not correct. I believe the advertised stall on a stock D5 is 2400.

Now a Monte Carlo, I would say 2050. The GN tranny is different. I believe that was a common mistake some tranny builders, not on this board, were making. They would put the wrong converter in the BRF 2004R tranny.

How is the GN tranny different.
Considering taking my to a shop, but want to be sure they know what they are talking about - and doing.
Thanks

stock stall would footbrake to around 2400-2500 rpms...2100-2200 flash stall

The highest stall listed by GM was a 2050. This would be the A as the second digit. The second list was a 1996 stall and this was th B as the second digit. They would stall higher because of the turbo making more torque to increase the stall. This is the actual listing, not what they were capable of. :D

You guys are foregtting how the motors TQ effects the stall of the convertor. i.e.. no stock monte carlo 78-88 every had the tq that the stock turbo regals have ...that is why the buicks will stall higher even if the Montes have the exact same convertor.

Good example bud had a warmed over 350 rocket w/turbo 350 and 2800 stall in a 82 cutlass and slapped a 455 in there and the same convertor/tranny would stall 500 rpms higher than the 350.

That is why I said it is Listed as a 2050 by GM. They will stall higher because of the torque.:D

CK Chris- what does it cost to restall a D5 converter? im interested in getting one done.

flash stall is how high the rpms will climb and then the tires break lose when you are from a dead stop and just mash the pedal instead of footbraking it...
