Finally getting around to swapping out the stock turbo for the TE44 I bought months ago. My question is, do I need to change the oil feed line and or drain line? Or can I just leave them alone? Or maybe clean them out somehow? Engine is a 30,000 mile with regular maintenance done.

I went from from stock to a TE44 a few years ago. Great turbo. Unbolt the stock one and bolt the 44 in its place. Everything hooks back up to it. Probably should prelube the turbo before firing it up. Unhook the orange computer power wire at the battery and turn it over a for 20 or 30 seconds. This should get the oil up to the turbo and flowing through it. Don't forget to get a new gasket for the turbo.

Some people recommend changing the feed line just to make sure that it isn't gunked up inside but that may not apply at 30k miles with good oil changes. With the turbo out of the way, it's pretty easy to remove the feed line so you can at least clean it out with some parts cleaner and make sure fluid can flow through it easily.

Same thing for the drain line I doubt yours is clogged at this point but it doesn't hurt to clean it out and reinstall it with some new teflon on the threads to make sure it doesn't leak.

IF you wanted to replace the feed line I recommend the turbo-luber setup available from board member Red Regal T, which not only replaces the feed line with a nice braided line, it also incorporates an oil filter into the set-up to make sure the turbo gets clean oil.
