Stock Turbo Shield

What is the stock shield made of? I read somewhere that it was stainless steel, but SS is not magneticand my shield is. How is it polished out to make it look good?

Had mine nickel plated at Theiss Plating in St. Louis for about $75. Turned out great!

The stock shield is steel with some kind of plating, but it eventually starts to rust.

I had mine "Sterling Silver" ceramic coated at Jet-hot.

It has a nice, satin-like chrome appearance, but rated to 1300ºF.

i put some mothers mag polish on it and buffed it came out nice but it takes a while
