Dear Turbo Regal Owners,
As the year closes Id like to give all TR owners a friendly reminder. I know that were all very busy with the holidays, work and life in general but take a minute to think about this:
The G body platform is still one of the most sought after and stolen cars in the country. As the stolen car forums moderator I have counted about 15 Turbo Regals stolen this year alone. Not included were Monte and a Olds 442. Now thats just folks that post here on Turbo Buick.Com. It is unknown how many others stolen TR's were not reported on the forums. This post is not to flame or hurt any members here. But lets learn from their experience.
This is just a reminder to keep a vigilant eye on your car. Install and alarm and kill switches. If you park your car at the curb in front of your house or work be especially careful. Block the car with the wives car or daily driver if in the drive way.
Taking the Buick for Xmas shopping at the mall or going to the Movies in my opinion should be a no no....
As a Law Enforcement Officer I can tell you that most car thieves use roll backs and tow trucks. Most know to push the car several houses over before trying to hot wire it or load it. A TR can be stolen in 5 seconds if using a Repo style tow truck.
Remember If they really want it the can probably get it....But why make it easy?
In closing , make sure you have your car properly insured. An appraisal of your TR is also a great idea.
