Straight pipes

My exhaust system is on it's last legs. It is dual out from the downpipe back. The mufflers were cheapo(never buy cheap stuff) that have lasted for about two years. They are really starting to rattle and fart at idle (you know that sound).

My question is, since I will be replacing the whole exhaust system next year with a 3" pipe and Walker mufflers, would the car be that much louder driving in city with no mufflers and filler pipe installed? I figure is better to have the car sound abit louder than to have it sound like my old '74 Ford. Anyone running straight pipes and found it unbearable?

PS...does anyone know what the 2000 Audi TT roadsters(manaul trans) run from 0-60 mph?

I currently have a hooker 2-1/2" system and replaced the mufflers with the some stainless straight pipes. It sounded great but if you drive it everyday it was too loud. Everybody is different. I replced the dat with a 3" Pitbull which helped alot. Currently changing everything over to an ATR 3" crossflow.

They will know you are coming but it will definelty be better than a 74 Ford

I can usually handle abit of extra exhaust noise....but I know my wife hates hearing that 1800 rpm drone. She always says the car is too loud as is! I figure if I can make the pipes last til next spring, I'll be laughing. I try not to drive it too much in the winter anyway.

It will drone but still be quieter than a single shot.

Drove about 10 miles with a guy with straight pipes on the car.

Wasn't all that bad.
