How far/or hard can the stock rear be pushed with 28 spline moser axles(supposed to be 28% stronger)

Basically I am curious about putting a TH400 with a transbrake in, and want to know when it will snap. The car should have enought power to turn 127mph the 1/4mile.

Thanks,

I know most people will disagree with me, but I have no love for Moser or their axles. They cut me a set for my 69 Cuda so I could run big bolt pattern wheels, and they cut them the wrong length and exploded my rear end, leaving me stranded while on vacation.

I say "it will snap when everyone says it won't ".

Thats been my experience. No really. FYI, I have and know of many others that run 127 + mph with stock rear and moser axles. No problem. 60 fts are in the 1.5s . However, I don't use a transbrake.

You should probably be thinking about running a Moser spool with 33 spline axles. This what I'll be using if I go the 400 w/T-brake route in my project car...

Please elaborate on the rear?

Can I do all of this inside the 8.5 12 bolt?

What's the differencee between a spool and mini-spool?

Well, my car probably isn't quick enough to really test them, but I'm running the Moser 28 spline's in my otherwise stock rear end.

3 seasons of hard charging (one with a trans brake) and all's still well.

Reply to Ted about Moser axles...

Ted, I run Moser spool and axles in my GN without no problem whatsoever. I'm still using the 200-4R transmission, but with a trans brake now and it gives me some kind of peace of mind (if such a thing exists!!) when I want to launch hard at 12lbs. of boost or more. Some guys say they don't like them because they leak oil in the wheels, but this is nothing a good old seal in the axle tube won't fix!!;) I broke one of the stock axles several years ago and went the "spool and axles" route and I have never regretted it. :) It also gets rid of the c-clips, and the axles are retained inside the back plate. On the street, the spool goes almost unnoticed, except when doing a very sharp turn at slow speed ( when parking for example...), but nothing exagerrated though...Other than that, I think it's great!:) Hope this info helps...'Bye, Claude. :)

i just talked to jack cotton today on the phone...he just blew the rear out of his t-type at the nats...(im almost 100% positive he runs a th400 w/t-brake) .... he said he tried to put the bumper on the ground and attempted a 25-30 lb launch...i think that would do it!
