With my .040 over Diamond pistons on a stock crank/rods(stock rods converted to floaters), the pistons actually came above the deck a few thousands of a inch, thinking most where around .007 just a little to high for my comfort zone.
Ended up fly cutting the piston faces so they would top out .005 below the deck. Checked valve clearance with playdoh, had plenty, no problems 2 yrs later. Rotating assemble was already balanced at that point, never went back after the couple of thousands being shaved off the tops of pistons.
