I am doing a lot of work on my t...I just replaced the pass header with a postons. When I put on the downpipe it wouldn't clear the up pipe mount. Now, I could cut the flange on the side of the pipe and hope it's enough room. I could go ghetto and dent the down pipe where it hits... Did anyone else have similar problems? If so what did you do? I fear that if I do any of the 2 above it'll sit right against the mount. Would this cause false knock? Some help please :)

I recently bought a set of Poston exhaust headers for my 85 GN. I scanned this section of the message board and found solutions to this problem. Try this if no one responds. I had my mechanic install them for me. I will say that a set of Poston headers, Hi flow cat , adj waste gate solinoid, and a hi flow Hooker exhaust changed the car's performance alot. it is not the same car. Brad

How much different is the postons pass. header then the stock header?? I have stock headers and had no problem with my downpipe clearing. You installed the downpipe first then put the header on? The downpipe shouldnt be in the way at all once you bolt it up to the exhaust elbow and trim it to fit on to your exhaust system.

Cars are such a pain.....hey?

Maybe you got a bad bend in your downpipe? Do you think the header is the problem or the downpipe? I wish I could see it. Man when I was installing my downpipe and I ran into a problem like that I would have lit the car on fire..........putting these downpipes in suck!!

I don't know what it is...I just put a little dent in the pipe and it fit up against the flange tight I mean it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to make the dent any bigger to restrict flow anymore so I'm gonna cut away some of the flange. I don't want them touching cause I'm afraid I'm gonna get false knock and be a pain to tune. If I ever figure out how to fix it I'll simply cut out the part that I dented and weld another piece in there
