Subwoofer positions?

I have heard that pointing the subs towards the rear gets you the best sound? That is how my box is now. Or does it depend on sub brand?

Actually it depends on car acoustics.

Box tuning and subwoofer type may play a part but it's mostly acoustics of the trunk/cabin.

in addition to what salvage said, its usually best with it facing back, but not always.
