Better fuel or turn down the boost. If it pings at the stock boost level on 93 octane, he has a problem.

He probably has the boost turned up too high. What is he running and you need a tool that can measure engine knock to figure out whats wrong

Could be. Mind you running higher octane fuel could be a bandaid for an underlying problem also. Come post at www.syty.net with full details including the list of mods and we'll sort your brother out. I'd sort it out sooner rather than later. With SyTys there usually isn't a later if detonation isn't corrected immediately.
