T-top center metal piece

On my t-top GN the black center piece that the tops slide into (along the center of the roof running front to back) there are a few dents.

Does this piece come out at all and if yes can you still buy them somewhere?

I just took mine completely apart (the whole t-top assembly). The center piece in rivited to the falt piece that the weather strip sits in (well, it's supposed to be, mine were rusted through...) The only way to get it out is to carefully drill the rivets out...it's double sided so reattaching it might be a problem.

MY SUGGESTION: Fix it attached to the car. Mask off the car and shoot it with some trim black. If I wasn't painting my car that is exacly what I would do. Taking it all apart is a major MAJOR bitch.

Hmmm...sounds like a PITA to take it all apart. Mine have no rust on them but I don't want to deal with drilling rivets.

The paint on the center piece is fine but it has to fingerprint sized dents that I am embarassed about.

I suppose I could fill them with bondo and sand smooth...then repaint the center piece.

I suspect that is what I will do.
