I have the GM weatherstripping on order, but a guy I know who works at another GM parts counter said for me to order from this other place that I forget. He said their weatherstripping is guaranteed for life and if I have get a crack, tear, or any other problem from it I can return for a free replacement anytime. What is the name of that brand and is it worth buying over the GM originals?

I dont know the brand but I can tell you there is a big difference between the GM and brand X. From what I have seen the GMs are thicker and since they came on your car when it was new you know they are going to fit, The aftermarkets are not thick and the quality sucks. There are solid plastic mounting taps molded in, they are a different shape than the OEM. You have to ask yourself is it worth your time and money if they leak or are prone to wearing out faster. Who cares if they are lifetime. My time is worth a heck of a lot more especially if I have to do the job 2 or 3 times. There are 2 big names. Metro and SofSeal and this comparison is based on all three brands. I know the GMs cost twice as much but they are worth every penny IMHO. I'm sure you have seen the other threads flamming the brandX ones.

Yes, I've heard how bad the others were. It was just this guy was so persistant. Anyways, it was softseal.

GM ones here I come. Watch out wallet.
