I was pulling the plastic trim off one of my t-tops in order to clean and lube the assembly as it was not moving as smooth as I wanted, when the black trim bezel for the lock just came off (I assume the plastice was dry rotted?) Anyway, it was not something that could be put back together so I bought a new lock and had it keyed to my keys and was ready to swap the old one for the new one.

I was thinking it would be like the ignition cylinder which is super easy to get out. It's not. I cannot see how the cylinder comes out and I have checked my shop manuals and cannot find any info on this.

Does anyone have info on how to do this or better yet some info with pics???

Any info is appreciated...

t-top lock

it's been a few years. IF I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE ASKING, REMOVE THE HANDLE (TORKS BOLT) THEN REMOVE THE 3 PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS THAT HOLD THE TRIM ON THE T ROOF GLASS. AROUND THE LOCK CYL,SOME HAVE A SMALL RIVITED PLATE ON TOP OF THE LOCK CYL. REMOVE RIVITS(OR BOLTS), THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO ACCESS THE "U" CLIP THAT HOLDS THE CYL IN PLACE,SHOULD PULL OUT WITH NO PROBLEM. YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO CHANGE OVER THE LOCK BAR(SMALL PIECE OF METAL STRAP) THAT LOCKS THE T ROOF WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY.. GOOD LUCK..

I'm down to the rivets. I was hoping to be able to remove the cylinder without removing the rivets. I can do it but I really hoped there was an alternative option.

Anyone else have an opinion?
