A budget way to fix TTop leaks and windnoise. Not for the ANAL among us. Elasomeric pipe insulation for 1/2" pipe. Comes in 4' pieces and is a black rubbery stuff like original insulation. Just lay it along the areas where original insulation is used. Clamp down the TTop into position and leave it that way for a few days. When you open the tops, you'll find the material has formed to and fills all the contours under tops and stays that way. No wind noise and no leaks and no empty pockets.

i believe Red Regal is talking about the anti-rattle weatherstripping that just sits on top of the metal plates to stop the tops from squeaking.

kirban sells the whole weatherstips for the t-tops and the anti-rattle. I just did mine, they give you all GM parts, simple job

NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PART WHERE THE WINDOW MEETS THE TTOP. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS INCLUDED WITH THE $110 PER SIDE KIT. DOES IT?

ANYWAY, WHEN YOU GO TO HOME DEPOT, GO TO THE SECTION THAT HAS ELASOMERIC PIPE INSULATION. COMES IN 4' TUBES. GET IT FOR 1/2" PIPES. JUST LAY IT IN PLACE AND CLAMP DOWN YOUR TTOP ON TOP OF IT. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS, IT THEN CONFORMS TO THE SHAPE OF THE CHANNELS UNDER THE TTOP AND ADHERES TO IT.

I'VE USED IT ON MY CAR FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS. NO WIND NOISE, NO LEAKS. I DON'T REMOVE MY TOPS, THOUGH I COULD. IF YOU MUST TAKE YOUR TOPS OFF AND ON, THE SEALS WILL REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION.

If you take your Ttops off think it would be stuck to them?

Unfortunately I remove mine often. I got GM parts from GM parts direct, and it was about $150 total last year for both sides

NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO SPEND OVER $200 FOR TTOP SEALS. I DON'T. IF YOU WANT TO, THAT'S FINE. THIS IS A CHEAP ALTERNATIVE THAT WORKS. IF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF RUST PROBLEM, AS MANY DO, YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO GOOP THEM $200 SEALS IN THERE.

AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, TTOPS SUCK, BUT MY CAR HAS THEM, SO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. EVENTUALLY, I'LL CHANGE OUT THE WHOLE ROOF.

AS I SAID, I DON'T REMOVE MY TOPS BUT IF YOU WANT TO YOU CAN. JUST USE SILICONE OR VINYL DRESSING ON THE INSULATION AND IT WON'T STICK TO THE GLASS.

YES, THIS PROCEDURE IS TO TOTALLY REMOVE THE FACTORY STUFF AND CLEAN UP THE CHANNELS, RUSTPROOF BEST YOU CAN, AND REPLACE WITH THE PIPE INSULATION.

now now this might just be a good idea.. even if you have to replace the home depot "rig" *EIGHTY-THREE* times, it still comes out to be more economical than it woudl to "do it right and save money in the longrun" ...

on another note..

the fuel feed tube and return tube from the engine bay which connect to the fuel rail on my mothers '95 Lebaron GTC started to crack and leak. They cost $140 a PEICE .. they're about 6" long and have a "special" clip end that just pops right in..

Well Let me see now I went to discount auto parts, spend $3 on some EFI hose and connected them with that, and clamped them down with $4 worth of worm clamps.. for a total investment of $7 + tax .. 2 years later, just like new!

Having had t-top cars in the past, I know the first thing to look at when buying one are the seals and the center section because its not available to buy anymore. Not to say that your cars arent nice, but if I were looking at it to buy and saw what you're alternitive for weatherstripping was I wouldnt waste me time looking at it for one other second. Sorry to be so blunt but it's how I feel. I've tried taking short cuts in the past with my car and found out that it kicks you in the a$$ in the long run. Do it right the first time and get it over with. It seems that some people like to make extra work for themselves, and theirs not much sence behind it.
