T-Tops...

(Hopefully) I will soon be purchasing an 86-87 GN. I am selling my 68 Camaro convertible for it. After having a convertible, I really want T-Tops. My question is how fast do you have to be to have the flexing an issue w/o a rollbar? Any other info would help too, thanks.

Even stock cars need a little help in this area. Most turbo buick suppliers offer rear seat braces to help fix this problem. These cars, t tops or not, have a tendency to crack at the b-pillars behind the door glass. I added these to my GN, and they really make a difference in the way the car feels. I've been running my car hard, and I have yet to see cracks.

The seat braces also cut down on the T-Top rattles. I can make you a set of braces for $40 plus shipping. I have a pipe bender and all the other necessary tools to make them.

Definitely do the rear seat braces as well as the frame braces too as these really strengthen the flax probs as well as stiffent the car up. It will ride like a different car after those. Also, the T-Tops can be adjusted to fit tightly. I see many complain about the tops rattling, leaking, etc but many just won't take the time to learn how to do the adjustments which are quite easy. The factory manuals cover it and their is also a smaller one printed that covers just this topic. Should be lots of archived info if you do a search on this site.
