ok so i have a 87 gn with a 3'' thdp greddy profec b spec2 boost controller, accufab afpr, hot wire kit, walbro fuel pump, big mouth cold air intake, 65lb. motron injectors, ta-49 turbo, stock converter, stock intercooler....

so i have my fuel pressure set at 42psi with the vaccum line disconnected car runs super rich, it hesitates and alot of black smoke comes out.. i turned down the fuel pressure to 36psi with line disconnected.. runs a little bit better but still some black smoke coming out... i plan on running a pt-61 in the future but i got a great deal on this ta-49 so u guys r probably wondering why such a big injector with a ta-49 .. well thanx for reading my thread and helping....

You have a chip specifically for those inj, right? When this black smoke and hesitation occurs are you in power enrichment? You shouldn't have any smoke/hesitation problems when not it PE if the chip is for those injectors. Runnign large injs really isn't a big deal if the chip maker knows what he's doing.

And if the chip was created for much higher airflow components and high boost w/ race gas(aka race chip) and your running low boost and one step above stock parts then you may well have an overly rich boost condition.

yeah i have a street chip and a race chip that i bought from pte.... i have the boost set at 19psi right now with 110 octane fuel when i blip the throttle when the car is parked it sounds like a pause then it raises the rpm... when im driving cruising around 45mph and i stomp on it, it has a big pause and then itll go... doesnt run as good as my car did when i had stock injectors with a ta-49 i mean my stock injectors didnt have enough fuel for top end but i just kept it at half throttle and it pulled hard as hell, with new injectors in it doesnt pull like that at all and my throttle is wide open???

hmmm...thats too bad, it does take a bit of work to get the chips AE(pump shot) correct along with some MAF table work so the BLM map is consistant when coming off idle as a too big a BLM value change when moving thru the map can also cause the tip-ip even when coming off idle fairly slowly.

If you have or know someone close that has Directscan use it to log some data and get that to PTE and hopefully you can get it worked out.

May not be you problem but 1st thing I see is, you don't need that much octane for the boost level your running. With my PTE street chip for 57's and 49, I run 41 psi line off, 22 lbs boost on a 100 octane, w/ no knock. I did turn the boost back one round just to be a little safe.

Is that 110 lead fuel or unleaded and is the o2 and spark plugs fresh? Are you throwing any codes, I'd have to guess but I assume that you have a scan tool w/ the amount of mods you have? Where's your Blms at?

If the rest of your tune is right, I'd have to assume it's the chip.

I would try turning the FP down. I only run at 38-40psi with 50's. I had mine FP at 42 originally and it was rich. That was with a JL chip too.

yah i lowered my fp to 32psi and it still runs rich, not quite as bad but it still doesnt run very good

i kno i dont need that kind of octane for 19psi thats what i set it at once i get everything all figured out i plan on running alot more boost

Good chance the 02 sensor is shot from running leaded fuel and it can't make the changes necessary for proper fueling. I know my Delco sensors lasted one night at the track which down here meant 4-5 1/4 mile passes. So, I usually killed an 02 sensor in less than 2 miles.

My O2s never lasted very long with leaded gas. Thank Heaven for Max Effort. ;)

yah i put in a brand new delco o2 sensor so it should of been good for the most part while i was driving it.... but since it has been running so rich it wiped out my o2 sensor within 60 miles or driving it.. i usually can get about 45 gallons of 110 with a delco o2....
