Thinking about doing a TA60 with 50# injectors and alky with a hooker exhaust. Is there any down side to this turbo? I will put a 3000 stall in shortly after the turbo. I am wanting to run about 24-25 psi. I was thinking about a TE-44 but after reading endless posts it seems that there is a favorite turbo for EVEBODY and I think the stock looking inlet and ability to use my actuator would suit me better. Any opinions and/or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, James.

i got the ta 60 from john craig and love it.i wish i had a little higher stall but with the 2800 i got on the street its fine.:D

He doesn't need larger that the 50's. In fact he could probably get away with 009s.

That 's a nice streetable combo.

My mistake. I saw 30# injectors in the sig. and missed the 50# with the turbo. :o

Go with the larger injector you can afford.
There are no downsides to running even 72s on the street, given you get the right chip.

60s are sweet especially if given enough fuel to actually run right.

I was thinking about the 57# high-Z siemens injectors. they are a little more. Which injectors would be easier to tune properly since I am going to get a chip from turbotweak

No injector is easier to tune then another, when your doing the chip right. They all are sightly different, and need adjusted for, in the chip. There are some chip guys that try to take short cuts, and then they give the injectors a bad rap about not being linear or some such nonsense. BTW, no injector is linear down into the short pulse widths, it's just they have different points that they go slightly skewed. 57s would be a good choice, IMO.

After reading more posts I kinda want a few opinions between getting the TE-44 or TA60. I am leaning towards the TA60 but want some more objective opinions between the two. I am not going to change my converter for awhile and I will only be running radials or DR's later on. I want a real good top end pull but I don't want to give up so much off the line that it negates the better top end. I realize I am going to be dealing with a little lag with the stock converter but maybe that will let the tires hook. This is going to just be a street duty car with few trips to the track. My "seat of the pants" feeling is more important to me than a tenth or two(of course that might change once I get to the track). Anybody have anything to say than please do. I'll take all the advice I can get.
Thanks, James.

I'll give you a comparison. I had a turbonetics stage 4(60-1) on my car it had a p trim turbine and an .82 housing(dont ask was on there when i got it). I had the stock D5 on there I could get 4 psi on the brake only after months of tuning and reburning the chip and leaning the hell outta it. When i let off the break it still took the same amount of time to get into the usable boost range than if I woulda just floored it from a stop.

I know the housing will be different on yours so that may help. Once it got moving it was a monster. On the street moving it wasnt bad at all and omce you got to 15 psi it pulled very very hard. I had it for sale but decided to keep it. two fins were bent in transit but not bad enough to hurt the use. So I'll see which of my two are better the pt51 or the turbonetics one will work with my restalled D6

Good luck to you. Personally i'd go with the 60 and if you dont like it you'll take less of a hit on a converter purchase than a turbo.

Well from what I have read about the ta60, it is not as responsive as the te-44 or ta49 and with the larger housing you had probably was the reason for the horrible lag. Thanks for the input and experience.
James

thats not true in my case about the 49 and the 60.i had a 49 and it went to lunch. i switched to a 60 and didnt notice anymore lag downstairs.:D

Your stall probably has a little to do with that, but it's good to know that there wasn't any noticable difference with the 2800.

JUS Rite

That TA 60 will work well with your set up. If you tune is right you will go fast on the street even with the D5 converter. I got my TA 60 from Limit Engineering and its been a very reliable turbo for the last 7 years. Also the nice thing about the TA series turbos is its an easy bolt on, no coupler matching as with the TE series.
