In the new Hot Rod Maz, there's mention of the Big Red Challenge.

0->200MPH->0

The article is basically about the rebuilding of the *Big Red* Camaro from years ago.

0->200->0............. WOW :)

Yeah, I haev that issue, haven't read it from cover to cover yet, should be interesting to read up on the cars and results from that test....because thats what I'd call a serious straight line performance test. I guess they found some drivers with some balls or maybe this is a different magizine as I remember in the past one of the mag companies decided to stop testing the top speed of cars as it was too dangerous for their drivers.

I was surprised big red was redone a bit but is only making 100+ more HP but I guess when your already making 800HP and its reliable for 94 miles at almost WOT and can do 222mph on the straights, what more do you need, hard to believe that was 15 yrs ago....I'm gettin old...
;)

I remember reading about that car back in '89 when it layed down that brutal 222MPH run. I wish I could find that Road & Track magazine that had the article in it.

The article in HRM was really interesting to read. Must have been a real bummer for the exotic car guys to have gotten backhanded by a (quote) "godawful hotrod". :D Of course, it's pretty much a stock car chassis with a steel Camaro body dropped on it.

I'd love to see Gottlieb line up against that purple 200+MPH Turbo Regal that competed in the Silver State. That would be an interesting race! :cool: Can you imagine going 220MPH in a stock bodied '69 Camaro or a Turbo Regal? :eek:
