Arent the door bars suppose to pass the drivers shoulder area? They look a little low.

They have to pass between the shoulder and elbow, and have to be a certain minimum distance to the firewall.

I'm a little partial but I still think the cage in my car is the nicest I've seen in a Regal so far. Installation was by Parker Chassis in GA. I painted it when I got the car back. Very few shops take the time to run the a-pillar bars through the dash. It was also certified to 7.50

Dusty,
Nice looking cage. Looks very similar to mine ;)
Yours will cert to 7.50 ? Typo ?
I thought to go 7.50's u gotta have alot more bars than you got.

Craig

I thought the door bars had to pass your body between your shoulders and elbow (chest area). Yours is extremly low. Is there a bar missing?

Whoops, someone already posted that.

I think it does :)

If you got your newly installed cage certed before Jan 1 2006 then you were grandfathered in. So I'm certed to 7.50 for 3 more years.

This was only for newly installed cages, any current cage cert due in 2005 would not be recerted to 7.50. BUT.....I know of several who had the sticker removed and certed to 7.50 again for 3 more years.

TwinyTwin and Dusty Bradford, I have to say those are VERY, VERY nice cages! Very impressive work! I love looking at that kind of time, effort, and work. Much better than going to the track and seeing a Chevelle with a cage that looks like it was made for a neon. ;)

Good looking cars guys!

I was looking through a Jeg's catalog. They have numerous options for cages. I noticed that the GN 4 point cage is $129.99 and the 8 point is $149.99. They both are made of 1 3/4" x .134-wall mild steel tubing.

The diagonal bar on the driver's side seems to be a drag when getting in and out of the car. I noticed that Jeg's also lists a pre-bent door bar that allows for easier entering and exiting. They are sold as a pair for $52.99 and the tubing is of the same specifications. There is a note however, that they are not legal for competition use. I guess that means that I cannot install the 4 point with one of the pre-bent door bars on the driver's side? Because that is what I was immediately thinking.

Are they saying the door bar must be straight and diagonal?

You need to get the 8-point although you may not use all of the pieces.

Swing-outs for the side bars are legal on a body car to 10.00 and dont need to be straigt. (At least non-straight bars pass tech at Bandamire.)
