Well my trans is sick. :( I'm hoping it's just a TC, but it might be more. It's a 200-4R in a 1983 T Type with 55,000 miles that spent most of it's life with a little ol' lady behind the wheel.

I was going down the highway and the car bucked hard and then was fine. After I got off the highway, the trans started slipping. I limped it home. At a stop sign, it wouldn't catch at all. I took it out of OD and into drive and it goes. The rest of the way home it would just freewheel in OD, but it drove in D. I lost a TC before (different car), but it was all gears, not just OD.

I'm about an hour from Jimmy's transmission near Chicago. If it needs major work, I'll go there. But if it's just a TC, I would guess that a more local shop could install it and I would buy a good TC from one of out TB.com sponsers. :)

Either way, what would be a good TC to go with? Something just a step above the stocker. This is a daily driver and since it's a '83 it likely won't ever be faster than a 14 sec car.

THANKS!

Any suggestions on diagnosing whether it's a just a convertor or something more serious?

I wanted to go racing this weekend. :(

I'm NOOOOO Expert, but my converter just went and I lost ALL gears forward and reverse. The fact that you still have D but not OD would make me think it's not the converter. But I AM VERY tranny illiterate.

Thanks for the response, your probably right and it's no the TC. I'm used the trans slowly getting worse. This was abrupt, so I'm hoping it just needs a repair and not a major overhaul.

I'm kinda disappointed. I thoght we had quite a few 200-4R expects here and I could get some help with this. :( :( :(
