A friend of mine who landspeed races, asked me to post this here. He runs an 88 g-body olds with a big-block and a 200r4 tranny......I just copied and pasted his email to me......
I purchased a TCI 200 4R manual reverse valvebody, TCI#386010, and installed on a trans that was working properly. I installed the full manual VB and it would not go forward or reverse and the pressure oscillated between 150 and 270 psi in all gear positions. I sent it back to TCI and after 2 months I called about it. They said they couldn't find it. They did have the paperwork. They finally found it 3 weeks later and then I had to argue with them about whether they should warrantee or not. They paid for their part and it still cost me $54 freight both ways. When I asked if they had tested, the employee hesitated and then said yes.
The trans I originally put it on worked when I replaced the original valvebody. When I got the valvebody back I reinstalled and the results were the same. I reinstalled on another 200 4R and this trans did the same as the first one.
The only spools in the VB is the manual shift spool and the TV limit valve spool. TCI sez that is correct. There is one plug where the oil signal tube went.
We checked the linkage, the governor and redid the instructions and found no problems. Both pumps are 13 vane with the large pressure boost valves.
I called TCI again and the tech said he didn't know what could be wrong. He said those were the only spools in the VB.
Does anyone know what should be in this valvebody, spools, holes etc.?
