My enfgine rebuild is almost complete and I need to decide which turbo (44,61 or GT?) and stall (2800 or 3200) to go with on a street driven 87 GN with ported heads, THDP, 50lb injectors, dual fuel pump system. I want to go with a 2800 or 3200 stall.
I would like a car that is capable of running low 12's on pump gas and occasionally run low 11's or high 10's with race gas or alcohol injection.

From what I understand, the spool up on the 44 is pretty quick, but it is the smallest turbo that is capable of running 10's and I may be willing to deal with a little extra lag if it means I don't have to push the turbo to its limit.

How much more power and how much more efficient is the 61 or is there a GT turbo that can make equivalent power with a quicker spoolup?

TE-45a is good for 10's easy. But you'd have to go with a higher stall 3600-3800.

low 12s on pump is gonna take a good 60 series turbo like the 66 like 1of1035857948579587 said and a good stall. a 44 will do bout mid 11s usually but 10s.....ive only seena couple and the were well modded/tuned.

I am currently running a 61 and definately reccomend it if it will meet your final goals. I'm currently running a D5 restalled to 2800 RPM and I do have some lag. Prob about 0.5 seconds between WOT and the real go. I' am planning on upgrading around tax refund time.
