Looking for an upgrade to my stock turbo for my stock motor. See mods in my sig. Planning on an injector upgrade. Not sure sure if the TE-44 is right for my car but looks like you have similar stuff. Was thinking about a TA-49. How similar is the TE-44? What else would I have to change?

The 49 is bigger than the 44. The 49 would require a bigger stall. The 44 works good with a stock style converter i.e 12" 2800 stall. With the combo you have right now this turbo would work very good. Not to sluggish.

Hope this helps.

The 49 & 44 turbo's are built with the same components with the differance being the compressor cover. The TA49 uses a stock compressor cover & the 44 uses the TE series cover & adds around 10hp over the stock TA cover. Both turbo's work good with a stock converter & a RJC boost controller really helps get things spooling quickly.

Hope this helps & TTT for a great deal.

Based on what I'm reading it looks like the Garrett housing would be better for my car so I guess I'll pass on this one.

Not really, but it's your choice. The precision .63 housing will act no differently than a garrett housing except that it will give you a better top end charge (flows better). Doesn't require a bigger converter.
