I just got a TE44 for my car and the outlet to the intercooler sits about 1/2 an inch higher than the intercooler. If i raise the intercooler to the out for the turbo, the fan will hit the shield. Anybody else encounter this problem? how do I solve it? It is a stock intercooler.

you need to loosen the bolts on the cold side and rotate it to match up. someone else will probably be able to give you a better explanation tho.

This is called clocking the compressor cover.
There should be 6 bolts that bolt the compressor cover to the backing plate. You loosen these 6 bolts which I believe are 13mm, the backing plate clamp and the wastegate actuator will now be loose. Using a rubber mallet carefully tap the compressor cover up or down to align the discharge with the inlet to the intercooler. Once you have it lined up, tighten the bolts in a criss cross fashion, hand tight and you're good.
