Have two TE44's one with .62 housing one with 80 somthing housing
Which is the better one to rebuild
running 2800 stall

I had a TE-44 with a club red strip convertor 2800 stall with a 63 housing. Was great on the car. Pulled great down low. I thought it was the perfect turbo/convertor on the street. Went to the PTE 85 housing and an AC 9" 3200 stall non-lockup. Lost some of the street fun, but felt like it would pull beyond the 5200 shifts at the track. HTH

Street- .63
Strip -.82

I have .82 on a TA49, spools real slow on the street vs. 63, and a stock turbo TR may feel faster and get ya to 60 mph or so.... (If it were be morally possible to street race)

No insult meant, and I never said slugs, losing to a stock GN to 60 is easy in most any car especially big turbo cars on the street. I also used "I" as in, in my experience. I still have the .82 on as well because as your sig shows, they come back w/ anger on the big end. On the street a .63 TE44/TA49 is a great , quick set-up that does IMO feel faster to 60 MPH. (Street tires and normal conditions).
