I just finished putting a Turbo V6 Buick engine in my 96 Impala SS.
I've never owned or driven a Turbo Buick before.
I just started driving it today.
I currently have a hose going straight from the compressor to the wastegate actuator (I want to keep the boost down at first to be safe).
When I floor it I get about 12 psi boost.
It does not feel fast at this boost level.
Is that normal?
What boost level will it start to feel fast? 15psi? 18 psi?
I'm used to the feeling of the Impala running low-mid 15 second quarter miles.

Also, going up a hill at half throttle the boost is between 8 and 10 psi. Is that normal?

My current modifications - TE61, THDP, single 3" exhaust, Thrasher 93 octane chip, 50 lb injectors, Walbro 340 fp, Accufab AFPR, stock intercooler, 9" K&N filter, 9" 3000 stall art carr non lockup, scanmaster.

At that boost level it won't feel very quick.

Turn it up a little at a time to maybe 16-18 psi. watching for knock.

Got a scanmaster? GET ONE!

That little of boost I suspect the motor is loaded pretty good going up a hill.

Walk slowly my son.

I thought when you ran the hose from the compressor to wastegate you will get high boost even at part throttle.
Sure you have all the hoses tight and no leaking IC.
It takes 20psi+ to feel fast in my cars.

Pictures

I have 2 older pictures on my website, I will put more new pictures on this weekend:

Anyway, the problem turned out to be the Throttle Valve Cable!
I apparently had it adjusted too loose, so my clutches and bands must have been slipping, which allowed my rpm's and boost to go up, but the car didn't accelerate like it should. I adjusted it this afternoon, went for a ride and it feels completely different now, much more responsive and fast! Then I hooked up the stock Y, hoses and wastegate solenoid but my boost spiked as high as 21 psi so I need to get that down a little. I just hope my transmission didn't take too much of a beating with the tv cable adjusted wrong.

The TE61 comes alive at 20+ psi. Will need race gas or alky to run those boost levels though.

Thats a heavy car.

27-30 PSI will feel quick

Fast... needs some engine work.. then 27-30 PSI :D

Dont you sell one of those new fandagled alchohol kits..that allows you to run upwards of 25psi? I think you do!

Oh man... :p

Seriously though, Razors alchohol kit for high boost is like tires on your car. You need it or else you aint gonna get anywhere, or something horrible will happen.

Alcohol

Alcohol injection is on my list.
Lower gears, intercooler and drag radials also.
I'm also thinking trans pressure gauge, EGT gauge and DirectScan.

50# injectors and a Thrasher?

I didn't know they made a Thrasher for 50# injectors. You might want to try a custom chip. With a heavier car it might be a little easier to get it "tweaked" in. I would give one of the reputable chip vendors a call. Nothing wrong with the Thrasher chips. I ran a couple with my stock injectors but with 50's in your car, you might be leaving a lot on the table.

When i put my new motor in--i was at the track doing some tuning at low boost. With a te-62 @13 psi---my full weight gn(3800 lbs. with me in it)--went 12.80's on drag radials. The rest of my combo was very similar to yours.

Have you had it to the track for any times?
