TE61 upgrade options....??

Hey guys.... I just purchased a used TE61 from a friend that was upgrading this turbo on his car. It was on his car when he bought it. Supposedly it has the .63 Precision exhaust housing and has a small amount of shaft play.... but was still on his running car until he pulled it to sell it to me. If I elect to try and rebuild this turbo myself... if I can find a kit...... what potential newer wheels can be installed to upgrade the older TE61....?? I was thinking I might try to upgrade to the newer 6152E. Is this possible.... and will I see a difference... on a mostly stock motor.....? What would be a better option to upgrade to? ..... or just leave it alone...?

I'd leave it alone if it wasn't leaking oil or had any damage to the blades.

I'd look into the tranny situation and try to find a nice 3000 stall lockup to go with that turbo, and a street/strip quality rebuild if needed.

hey how are you? i had a te-54 same as your 61. or real close. anyway i put a gt-6152-e on. and i can;t tell much diff. a little midrange. but that;s it. frank.

send it off and have a 66mm wheel put in it and buy a converter
