I'm looking to put a 200-4r into my '70 velle. I hear this is THE place to go for information on 200-4r's. I do understand what is involved with the install so I currently don't need help there.
I need to know how to identify a 200-4r, and what to look for to tell if it came out of a GN or Monte SS (these are the ones I should be looking for correct?)
I did search here for information but I need beginners lingo....or at least a pic of what were talking about. I know very little about automatic transmissions.
I read that I should be looking for a BRF, BQ, CQ or CZ....What does that mean? Where are these located at on the trans? Please be specific.
I also read where some guy got ripped off by some one selling him a BRF trans with standard stuff in it. He said to look for BR3 stamped on side and 2 pressure switches...What does this mean exactly?
Also read that BRF trans have pink paint on the valve body. Forgive my ignorance...but this is inside the trans, on top of the filter that is covered by the oil pan... isn't it?
I heard of a local guy that has a couple 200-4r's for sale and I'm trying to educate myself about them before I go look.
I do appriciate any help you can give. Thanks
