When I dropped the pan to check the TV cable, I found this in the pan.

Case flexed and that broke off.

You may not be screwed, actually, but you probably do want pull it and have it disassembled and checked and get that spot welded back up and re-tapped. How are your motor/transmission mounts?

Trans has never seen a single mile, just got back from having the builder check it because it would not shift. Dropped the pan after I got it installed to check the TV cable and found the piece of metal in the pan.

I would talk to the trans guy first, and ask if he removed the valve body. If so, he may have overtorqued the bolt/etc.

Is this for a stock/street car? Or racer?

It is just a street car, and working with the trans guy is out as I cannot spend another $300+ to send it back again. I am already in well over $2500 on this thing as it is.
He just had it for 2 months to check the valve body and remove the fixed pressure mod he added and it comes back with this broken.
I'm just going to try some JB weld and pretend I didn't find it in the first place.

I would try the JBWeld - making sure the area is clinically clean. Some purists will come in and condemn me for that... but meh.. I think it will work fine.

Zoomed in - it looks like he (or someone) may have cross threaded the bolt, or used the wrong one. It looks to me like the bolt is bigger than what should have been used.

He put the wrong bolt in and cross threaded it. I zoomed the pics..

Of course! The builder should pay the freight - and for a new case. But - that may be hard to get out of them - and I think I saw DaveD post there was another issue with the trans. Sounds like he may need a new builder - IMO

The only person I see that is wrong here is the guy who did the work and won't fix it. I won't be going to him anytime soon

$--t happens , but it's usually my fault . Torque value on the valve body to case calls for just 9-12 ft -lbs . That ain't much . Much more and you will pull threads . Could be a flawed case or he dropped the case (not likely ) but whos knows . Looks like to me , threads would be pulled before a case failure . Probably be hard to get the builder to admit fault .

If you have to bite the bullet , WIT Transmissions sells a case for $91.50 . Some of the guys on here might have one cheaper . Good luck .

Not a vendor here, he used to post here but I have not seen anything from him here in a while.
He was recommended by several on NastyZ28. I found this site while I was trying to find out why the pressure was way high and it would not shift past 2nd.
