Howdy,

I recently ordered a catalytic converter from Ram Chargers for my Terry Houston down pipe. The converter is about 2 and 3/8 inches longer than the test pipe. The overall length of the test pipe is 12 inches and the cat assembly is 14 and 3/8ths inches long. I am worried that if I stuff the down pipe 4 inches into the cat it will hit the substrate inside. The part number on the box is correct. Are they all this long or did I get the wrong part? We unfortunately have emissions testing now.

I have some pictures if anyone is interested.

My Randon Tech. cat. was that long as many aftermarket ones are, about 15"

I cut my THDP to fit it.

Now it's the same length as the Mease pipe on the other car.

Not sure where the real THDP cat. comes from that fits.

Couldn't fit the Random cat. on my car without hitting the substrate with the standard length of the downpipe.

Dynatech is only 11 3/8" overall if interested. I can give a part number and supplier if you need them.

I just put one on my car yesterday.

There were two different pipe designs for the THDP, regardless of whether you have ATR headers, stock etc... One uses a 14" cat and the older version uses 12" cat (as you have found) The dynatech cat will work perfectly at 12" oal.

hth, night!

I don't know why I wrote 11 3/8" before, because I even reread the darn catalog. Anyway, after 12" was mentioned I got curious. In fact the Jeg's book says 11 1/2" overall length. Anything close to this would help you out well I guess.

The part number for Jeg's is 329-79-400300. This is for the 3" in/out version of the Dynatech Power Cat, and is on page 18 of the newest catalog. The one with the yellow pick-up on the cover.

The only trouble with the web site, is there is no picture of this part. I can tell you it looks almost identical to the 700000 series Dynomax cats, except it's not polished. It's just regular flat stainless steel. FYI- I just passed PA dyno emissions on Wednesday. (The day I installed mine.)
