and i must say not very impressed at all. my 85 grand national has more kick to it. it has 200hp. and that's it. its like the 84 grand national. worse a 4 door. now i really am hoping that this car returns for a spacial addition 2 door coupe one day. then maybe ill get one. would like to hear if you drove the 2011 turbo regal and your thoughts on it.

Not impressed at all. MT did a 1/4 mile run at something like 16.1 if I remember correctly. Plus it costs 30k+. Not a bargain IMO.

When

I was looking at it i noticed it was an opel with buick emblems didnt even drive it .. Turbo opel .. But i will take an old opel with vin-7 3.8 in it that would be different and actualy fast .

yea the car is not worth its price. im sticken with my 85 gn. the car sales asked if i was trading that. i told him theres no way i get rid of a REAL TURBO BUICK for a crappy one... WHY GM HAVE YOU FAILED US ONCE MORE....

Ok so its not fast. Isn't there anything else good about the car? I've heard positive things (performance obviously not one of them) so aren't there some redeeming qualities?

I wanna like the new Buicks ok? :)

It was

More like a gadget . Im not that into options that don't include mass amounts of speed . I liked the prototype version based on the corvette chassi . Even looked naughty.. Then they bring this thing out ..

If you like speed, buy a 'vette. 99% of people buy cars based on other things than speed. The new turbo Regal is not a sports car, nor is it advertised as such. I saw one up close and it compares very well to an Acura TSX.

Well

Jay last time i checked the original t type wasn't a sports car either or my gn . If your looking for a car for your little sister great . But if your gonna run the t you better be quick .and alot of cars out there beat it for less money . As for the vett mine never really impressed me that much no matter how much money i spent . My v8 nissan armada is my slide ride and i think it will beat the new t .

I'm leasing one.
Its a sport sedan not a muscle car, you folks should be test driving the Camaro instead. If you looking for 2 door rear, wheel power.
Its amazing how many people are stuck in 1987.
Probably like the 1970's GS guys were saying when the Gn came out "I dont want a crappy v-6, w/ fuel injection. I want a big block carb" Never gonna happen.....
If you want a solid German made, fuel efficient, extremely well handling, with decent acceleration with all the creature comforts the 2011 Buick Regal Turbo is for you.

I don't think the new Regal is being marketed as a "upgrade" or replacement for the Regals as we have become fond of.

If you are seeking any kind of performance in a GM sedan you have to upgrade to one of the Caddy models. (The rarest of rare will probably be the Caddy CTS V station wagon my guess at best only a few hundred may be built 6-speed manual verison).

While quality has certainily improved, since our Regals, power band it appears has not, under the Regal model. I am sure the windows are quicker, the dash is more readable and you can trash your cassettes now and enjoy 100 plus stations and sit on leather seats that offer
some real support.

But the wow factor and getting the thumbs up....may be a few years down the line.

well at least it looks like they are going to do a 2012 regal gs that they are upping the hp to 255. Not exactly earth shattering but a step in the right direction,it is suposed to be available later this yr.

Looks like turbo fans wanting a newer american turbo ride, with some nut,are going to have to go ford.
Taurus Sho, 365 hp twin turbo,+ available in all wheel drive too.
Definetly a big, heavy car,but one of the magazines said the best handling full size out there.
Not cheap, list starts at 38k + with all wheel + all options can be as high as 45k.
but check out the you tube vid of 1 going 12.75 at 108 with no mods, just a tune.
There is also another vid on there of 1 with a tune that is staying with a 2011 412 hp stang,so that car is prob making 450 ish hp,doesn't say if they are turning up the boost or not or how far.
I'm sure people will be making 500+ hp with these shortly, they are a 3.5L with DOHC + 24 valves + twin turbo's,Look at the hp we our making with 12 valves, pushrods,+ a single turbo.
That one running 12's with the tune, has to be well over 400hp to move that barge that fast + i believe it was all wheel drive version too.(Even Heavier)
Every article also says absolutely NO turbo lag + Big Torque feel at all rpm's,also has a 6 spd auto + paddle shifters too. One article says they are designed to run on regular too which is a huge deal these days.I'll have to read a bit more on that,i would think they must suggest high test for best performance but can get away with regular + it probably has knock sensors,+ automatically retards timing or something to that effect.
Like ford or not, these are pretty nice cars for big luxury boats, that perform.
Nice thing too is ford usually builds there performance drivetrains capable of handling large increases of hp + torque because they know people are going to mod them.
I'm hoping they sell alot of them ,i'd like to own one when they have depreciated some.

I agree, those Ecoboost engines are very impressive. I don't like Ford cars, but I give credit where it's due, and the Ecoboost V6 is a powerhouse in the trucks and the Taurus. Once a few more tuners get their hands on the powerplant, it's gonna be a bad day for GM at the tracks IMO. I hope GM has an answer.

As for the Regal, I liked it so much as a DD I ordered one, but there were some complications and I couldn't get the color/options I wanted right away. So I got what I really wanted, my GMC. But the Regal would have had my wallet-vote, it seemed like a great everyday car to me. Is it a 12 sec track monster? No...but who wants to get groceries and pick up kids in a muscle car anyway? I would've driven the crap outta that car, and saved the GN for when I wanted to go fast and turn heads. I think the Regal is a winner for what it is.
