Testing/Cleaning delta gates

I just got two delta gates from my friend. He had them laying around for a while. Is thier any way to check make sure they work and or clean them before I install them?

Sure can!! Holding them upright (red part on top) Put 20 psi regulated air in the bottom port and see how freely the gate moves or if it moved at all. It is mormal for some of the air to leak past the shaft.

Quicker yet, and more preliminary for sure, hold the DG up to a light with the puck facing up, now look through the other [bypass] port while holding unit to the light...see any light passing the puck??? She's in need of complete diassembly and cleaning and almost for certain a 'decking' of the body to enable the puck to seat again as there is no adjustment at all. Got this from Turbonetics a month ago when I wasn't sure of one in my possession. It failed this test miserably.

I take the "red" cap off and that exposes the top of the stem. Then I put the end of the stem in my cordless drill and seat it with lapping compound. Also look for any cracks in the diapghram.
