TH-250 Trouble?

I have an 82 Cutlass with normal 3.8. I recently replaced the vacuum modulater and the shifting improved, but now when I accelerate it shifts fine into 2nd, then it drops off when it shifts to 3rd. It's almost like I put it in neutral. I can give it more gas and it just revs higher. Is the tranny gone?

Is the fluid brown and smell like it is burnt?? If the TH250 is
fried, you should upgrade to a TH350. Then use your governor,
speedo gears, detent cable and dipstick and its tube.

hrmmm...

Sounds like High Clutch is toast. How is Reverse as they use the same pack.
Third gear is direct clutch and forward clutch on and reverse is direct clutch with l/r clutches on and forward clutch released.
Pretty simple diagnois...
