Hi
I am old school and have always heard that it was detrimental to overfill the tranny (over full mark). This has been the case with my past cars....TH350, 700R4...BUT I have been reading recommendation to fill 1/2 quart over full mark on the TH200. Is this correct advice. I had the TTA's tranny flushed and filled 1/2 quart over. My wife's car---94 V-6 Camaro with a TH200 was inadvertantly over filled about 1/2 also. Before I go suck the excess out...wanted to know if this recommendation also applies to a TH200 out of a 94 3.4 liter Camaro?

Your help is appreciated.

Leave it alone

Unless the fluid is foaming or being forced out leave it alone. One quart over is unlikely to cause a problem. If it does, just loosen, not disconnect, cooler line at radiator and the overfill will leak out quickly. You can do it at a "friend's" or old girl friend's house, share the mess.

I read that one tranny rebuilder stated that it IS recommended to fill 1 quart over on the 200R4...in order to keep the filter submerged. This will prevent "dry runs" when cornering .....which can lead to incidents of low fluid pressure and eventual failure of tranny. He also stated that 1 quart over full mark was not going to create the bad foaming action leading to metal/metal contact.

I might leave my wife's car alone...but keep an eye on the color over time to make sure it's not overheating.

Thanks for the input.
