if my tranny goes south which will probably happen in a year if not sooner are there any benefits to putting in a th400? i understand it has something like 2 kinds of stalls or something. some one please elaborate on how this tranny works. i know its heavier but wold it be stronger? is it just a straight dropn in or not?
 
It is not drop in. You will need a BOP 400. I beleive a different cross member setup for a 400 and a different drive shaft yoke for the 400 trans. I beleive that covers it there. Now the 400 is stronger and will take more umph. You lose the lock up TC and the overdrive for street manners. I beleive that some have been working with a switch pitch convertor but I have never personally played with one of these. I hope all this is correct.
 
thanks. ya i talked to a guy whose car was on gnttype.org and it said he had a aswitch pitch converter and he told me can switch from a 1400 to a 4000 stall converter when he wants to. i have a friend who lives about 30-45 minutes down the highway and my car is a street car so i doubt i will want to lose lockup capability.
 
Do a search about switch pitch 400s. You will find that they are not very desirable in our cars.

There is lots of info on regular 400s on both Turbo buick sites. Lots of big names have hashed this issue including parts ect.


If u are interested ill be selling my 200r PMAC tranny within the next couple of weeks.We are locals so it might benefit both of us. Im going to the 400. but I dont drive mine everyday, i dont even drive it every month.... :( :( :(
 
thanks for the offer Louie but i dont have nearly enough money to buy a tranny anytime soon. unless my job gives me 100 hours a week for a month, LOL:D
