Maine Remembrance Wreaths Decorate Veterans Cemeteries

I am volunteering at Arlington National Cementery 12/13/08

Maine Remembrance Wreaths Decorate Veterans Cemeteries

I am volunteering to help lay wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery on December 13, 2008. This company Worcester Wreath has for a number of years have been doing this as you can see by the link and video attached.

I first got notice of this in USA Today in December 2006 and tried last year to volunteer and never heard back, I tried again this year and the President of the company wrote me back and said I was more than welcome to volunteer and I could bring as many as I liked.

So I am going to do it this year, I am taking three dear friends with me, two of which are veterans, one a Korean War veteran who is like a 2nd father to me and another is a Vietnam War veteran.

Our plan is to leave on Thursday the 11th and stay over and on the 12th take the two veterans to their respective memorials as they have not seen them in person, then on that Saturday the 13th meet the group of other volunteers at Arlington.

If anyone is interested I was told to meet at Section 12 of Arlington at 8am on that Saturday December 13th. The President of the company starts with a prayer and then we start laying wreaths, so if you are in the area and like to volunteer you are more than welcome to show up.

This is something I have wanted to do since getting wind of it two years ago and I think taking my two veteran friends will be very special and it is the least I can do.

God bless the men and women of the USA Armed Forces.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Veterans Day

You're welcome.

Pray for and support as best you can all those that continue to serve, especially overseas. The job is not easy, the pay is not what it should be, the rewards are few. They do the job for love of country, and all that it stands for.

Thanks for our freedom!

One of my best friends did 2 tours in Iraq in the Marines in the last few years. He's out now and just moved back. He has yet to buy a beer at any bar we go to....it's neat to see how many people out there appreciate what he and many others have done to protect the freedom we take for granted everyday.

Thanks for the kind words guys. You're welcome, and I too would do it again if it weren't for my wife and having to take care of my mother. The real kicker is I could've retired from the Navy in less than another 6 years if I'd have stayed.

Thanks also to the ones who continue to serve, and who served before me and with me. This includes my older sister Rebecca who's been in the Navy from 1992-present and my late grandfather that served 4 years in the Navy during WWII.

And now, a pic from my past without compromising any of our nation's best-kept secrets (other than the fact that I was scrawny and wore glasses at the time:eek:):

Me too!!! Your Welcome!

Prayers and heartwarming support from "folks back home" are what inspire those that serve, and have served.

Such support is what keeps our men and women in uniform going so strong, maintaining pride, keeping their heads high, and never ending diligence!

Thank you all, from a crusty old sailor!
