That Thomson Intake from the BG thread!

hey all...I got that intake from the Thompson collection, all cleaned up. The guy who did it is real great, and helped me grind down an exhaust elbow, and also cleaned up the intake/turbo adapter...so, here are the pics!

aaaand lastly, stock intake adaptor, along side the bored/cleaned intake adaptor:

the difference cant really be seen in the pictures, but there is a huge difference between the two adapters, and from what I was told when I first got into this hot air thing five years ago, if you are keeping that adapter, you gotta make it bigger. I believe I went .090 on the lathe with it, maybe a tiny bit more. I know I can go farther, but this was my very first time using the lathe, and it came out pretty good!

So...I got a ported exhaust elbow, a bored out intake adapter, and a bored throttlebody, and a ported LT intake.....i think this motor will breath easy!!! oh yeah...heads and motor are in the shop July 25th for the complete rebuild and the rest of the porting...should come out nice!!!!

Nice job on the intake and adapter, I never even thought of boring that out, I will have to do that next time I take off the turbo. That beast is gonna move when you're done!

with the turbo off of the car, put the stock adapter into your turbo

feel on the inside, is the adapter's ID smaller than the ID of the turbo's outlet.

if it is not, then boring the adapter is a waste of time

The stock turbo supposedly has a larger bore than the adapter....I dont have the turbo handy to verify that, however, making the adaper larger at any rate will allow less air restriction, and should produce positive results no matter what!

so... I totally removed that inner lip...I opened the wastegate hole just a hair, but enough, and I smoothed the entire inside for better flow. i was going to make a spiral likegroove in it for fun...maybe like a rifeling to make the exhaust move more efficiently, but then I thought to myself, at 4600+ rpms...It really doesnt matter how the exhaust comes out, as long as it gets out...so I ground out a little more!!!!
