"Mr. Carson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning," his nephew, Jeff Sotzing, told The Associated Press. "He was surrounded by his family, whose loss will be immeasurable."

He was 79. NBC said Carson died of emphysema at his Malibu home.

That is sad, he was one of the true comedians.
Emphysema, has to be one of the cruelest of illnesses.

He was truly the last of the great entertainers. We may never see a talent like his again, this is a huge loss.

Bummer. He was Genuine and stood out among many.

Jerry Lewis is one of the few left.
