The last Buick Regal was produced at General Motors' Oshawa 2 plant in Ontario on Tuesday, June 1. The plant began producing the car in May 1987. In a 17-year run, 1,389,991 Regals were built there. The Buick Century and Pontiac Grand Prix will continue to be built at the plant.

GM's Lansing, Mich., Grand River plant has begun producing the Cadillac STS. The plant, which produced 41 STS models in May, also produces the Cadillac CTS.

If they were gonna kill it, I wish they would have in '88 before they turned it into just another modern wuss-wagon. Just the same, it will be missed.

LaCrosse 1, Regal 0

I like my '00 GS alot. I would have liked to buy a new one that year but waited for a clean used one. Gotta love depreciation!

1988 thru 1997 were kinda the "dark years" as far as performance goes, but for wrong-wheel-drive the '97.5 and up is really an nice package.

I had a 99 Regal that ran 13.7's with a smaller pulley...stock muffler, stock air box and stock crappy goodyear tires...loaded car with Monsoon sound system, heated seats and moonroof...car was 3700lbs with me in it.....they were great all aroung cars. I suprised many Mustang and import guys.

Why do you consider folks snobs because they don't like the fact that Buick went FWD (& then 4-door only) with the Regal?

Because the new Regals are still good cars. The late 80's and early 90's were rough, but they at least went back to forced induction in 97.5.

Its like the V8 Regal guys saying the best Regal is a V8 Regal, and they should have never gone to a 6 cyl.

I can't drive an 87 as a daily driver, therfore I am thankful to at least have a supercharged Regal that will be reliable for daily use and track fun.

Just one FWD driver opinion.

BTW, I would love to own an 87 GN. When I do get a garage queen or summer warrior I will most definatly pick up a GN.

I must say that the 88-96 Regals were not performance oriented cars, but the 97.5 models to the currents were darn nice cars and decendants of our wonderful TRs. I am very sad to see the Regal nameplate is no more.....we will not forget the last Regals. :(

Hey Bluto my dad and uncle both drive there turbo cars everyday to and from work etc. So the Turbo Regals are daily drivers.
