Picked it up today in Bluray! Awesome! Just awesome so far... I see this being waaaay better then Band of Brothers. And Band of Brothers is one of my favorite mini series. Its wicked in Bluray to.

War is neat, isn't it? Especially Hollywood portrayals of it. After all, it was their war American boys were fighting, just as they are today in Iraq and Afghanistan. They manipulated it, and are benefitting by it, while America is going down the drain because of these very same parasites; your masters. With a little luck and trickery, maybe they'll get Americans to attack Iran for them, too.

Reds just mad cause there are no rabbits to kill..... ;)

Well...back to the topic. I haven't watched "The Pacific" yet. I plan on going from start to finish on Vet's day weekend. I'm almost afraid to watch it because I like "Band of Brothers" so much, if that makes sense.

I saw it when it was on HBO it was good but Band of Brothers i think was the best mini series they have ever done

Brett is it a Netflix or a purchase?
Its a 10 part mini series so im not sure if its available on netflix. I ended up purchasing it. Im almost half way thru and the acting, directing and script is about as good as it gets for a war series imo.

Its available on NF. I just didnt know if it was a keeper or a watch once and forget about it. You know.... like Lord of the Rings. I only watched it once or a hundred times and forgot about it.:D

Oh I see myself watching this probably 50 times over the next few months. Id say its a keeper for sure. Its no LOTR tho....:D but what is?;)

In bluray its only $60 right now. Its on sale at Bestbuy. I think it retails for $80. I would have gladly paid $80 for it since ive been waiting months for it to come out. I had cancelled my HBO after Sapranos and the Wire ended so this is my first viewing of it. And the women are pretty hot to.

The Wire...great show. I really got into that one.

Thanks for the headsup on Pacific. I will be making a purchase.

I caught it on HBO. Man what an intense series.

X2 on that!!! The Pacific's battle scenes were crazy. I like Band of Brothers a bit more though. I bought that series for $110 when it was released.

Ya know what I watched the entire series now and I would have to say that Band of Brothers is better is some reguards and The Pacific was better in others. Especially in how realistic war truly is as far the death and disfigurement as well as its was just a crap shoot to make it out alive. The Pacific definately portrayed that aspect a little better.

I cant say The Pacific was better or worse. They truly are two different types of mini series and both had pros and cons but its still a definite purchase imo. Im sure I will watch it as many times as I watched Band of Brothers.

When you watch a movie like this, you have to think about the historical value and accuracy of the movie over the entertainment value. If you have read any of the books that are in the credits, the movie is portrayed to be as accurate as possible with little dramatization.

From that standpoint, I don't think that it is better or worse than Band of Brothers. They are both very good movies and should be mandatory watching material in public schools. You get a good sense about how and why these people change during war.

Most people forget about the previous generations and what they went thru so we could live free. We could be typing in Japanese or German right now if not for the blood that was spilled by our American soldiers. We also had leaders who new what to do. None of this political correctness crap. Drop bombs till they surrender. Amen.
God bless the USA.
