Thermostat necks the same from 85 to 86?

Gonna replace my thermostat on my hotair, heard the necks are easy to break apart, was told that to order a neck for a 89tta. Will it fit on my 85?

The 86-89 has a round hole in the front of the intake for the thermostat.

On the 84-85 cars replacing the thermostat is actually easier to do than the 86-87s. All you need to do is remove the 2 bolts on the front of the intake and it is right under there. See picture below:
