Buddy of mine just picked one up for $22,400. Not new but pretty darn close with only 900 miles on it.

What's the cheapest you've heard of?????

900 miles???Someone disappointed in its performance I guess.???

Well there's a story...
Rich guy has 7 cars, buys 04 GTO early in year for wife. Wife doesn't like manual trans much. Rich guy trades GTO in for a 05 mustang instead. So my bud picks up a slightly used GTO from a Ford dealer.

He hasn't let me drive it yet but it sure feels nice from the passenger seat.

Hwere was this posted a week or 2 ago!!!
I could swear I read this same story ,or is that the line everyone is using...:(

I know you guys hate the looks, but for 22K, that's a steal. I'd take one if I could get it for close to that. Hopefully the aftermarket with take over where GM was deficient. Nicer hood etc and it'd look pretty nice. Add a supercharger for a few grand and it'll look a lot less ugly (to me at least).:)

I wasn't really in the market but i've seen some dealers selling new for 23-24K and am now considering one. What do you guys think will they hold some value or just keep dropping with the 400hp 05 coming out? I know you couldn't get an ls1 camaro for that cheap towards the end.

I think the value is going to continue to drop because it performs great, but the looks are too bland to give it any real resale 4-5 years from now. I'm very glad that I didn't buy one when they just came out. For the cars to drop 6-10K in value in a year is terrible.

This is why I bought the GN. It's insured for much more than I paid for it and has Classic status.($370/yr full coverage)

Well I have one and its nice. Bought mine before the big deals came in Nov/Dec but got quite a bit off.

As far as resale, all cars go through a bad spell. Have to remember that GN's weren't worth anything for quite a while. I couldn't give mine away in '92. Wish I could have kept it but raising a family took priority.

Unfortunately, the GTO doesn't stand out in todays arena of 30K-less performance cars. The GN made a strong statement in 87 from a technology and performance standpoint especially since it only had a V6 with an automatic.

Ooohh... that one is right down the street from me.

I'm dyin' over here! Must resist.... GTO calling to me....

I think they will probably get even cheaper over the next few months.

i did a search about a week ago and there were 25 plus 2004's still sittin on lots around here.

I may have to think about this. Wonder what it'd do with a blower...
Most are making 400+rwhp, some close to 450 rwhp with a couple mods. Fuel pump becomes a problem after 400+ but that is being addressed right now :)

Yep.

And welcome back to the GN crowd again Brian :D

For $22,XXX, it would be extremly hard to turn it away. I'm sure the insurance would be outrageous, so I'm not even going to get those thoughts going, lol.
Besides, I bought the T for performance, my daily driver needs to be "thrifty". :D

Actually I believe that's how much they were selling for in '02, kinda surprising because they were more in demand then than the '04 GTO is now. The GTO has the same motor but a much much better interior (thing I hate most about my car:( ). A friend of mine just picked one up for $24k brand spanking new.

Well I couldn't resist any longer. The wife finally cracked and I was allowed to head to the dealer. Picked up a brand new Cosmo Purple 04 GTO 6spd. $24,800 ($23,800 after using my GM card credit incentive)
