Well I cleaned out the old storage unit last week and have been going through the stuff to see what needs to stay and what needs to go away. One of the things I found was my old briefcase that I haven't used since 04. I decided to open it to see what was left in it. I used to carry it to work so I could take training info home with me. What I found was some old sales brochures from when I worked at a chevy dealer before I moved back to Texas. I doubt very many of you have ever seen this stuff so I thought I'd post a few pics of them. A couple of them are bent but considering how many sales brochures survive they're in pretty good condition.

The 50th anniversary Corvette cruise with caravan info from all over the country is a neat little bit of nostalgia, not to mention the sales training book on the SSR that was for the sales staff only. For some reason I've got 31 of the cruise maps and 2 of the blue corvette sales brochures. If I remember right they were cleaning things out of the storeroom and I was lucky enough to get a few of the things they were throwing away. The 50th anniversary corvette brochure even has a CD with it and if you've ever tried to get one of the corvette brochures you know they're usually not out in the open for someone to take, you have to be a committed buyer to get one, and even the salesmen don't get them to look at without having someone that's really interested in one. The SSR book was never supposed to leave the dealership since it was a training aid. I also found my antique/vintage bamboo fly rods that I've been wanting to restore but never got around to.

Neat stuff. I'm sure some of the SSR folks would want some of that SSR stuff, not to mention the 50th Vette crowd too....post it up other there to help clear it out and put some $$ in your pocket for your new found lost treasure :) I was looking into the SSRs for a while before my wife and I drove one for an extended test drive...came back completely un-interested after that, salesman was very surprised when we brought it back the same day when they were letting us keep it over night.

I actually sent a couple of emails out to people I know that might be interested or may know someone that would be. If I sold it all at once it would save me some time but if it's all sold 1 at a time then it's roughly $400 to $450 in material. Wish at this point I'd grabbed more stuff since you never know what someone might want to collect.;)

Well it's been an interesting 24 hours with this stuff. Under the suggestion of a friend that's into vettes, I decided to join corvetteforum. Talk about a bunch of dicks! I went to the into section to say hi and give some history on myself and to show pics of this stuff so I could get some idea of what it's worth. Well that got me a PM and a warning for being a non supporting vendor.o_O Since I was received so well and warmly by that bunch of idiots I thanked them kindly and told them I would come over here and relate my experience with them. I know that there's some crossover between some of our guys owning vettes but on amy forum I've ever joined I've never had something like this happen. This was in the parts for sale section BTW so I hope you guys realize how good we have it over here.;)

My response.

Thank you Jim, I misunderstood the rules. I will ask you to remove my membership then and say goodbye to this forum. I only wanted to get rid of this material rather than throw it in the trash. I will make sure the Buick community knows how generous you are and will make sure that they understand how well this was received.
Thank you,
Charlie "charlief1" Frierson.

LOL, That's how it's "Suppose to work" when the rules are followed properly!;)

Up to a point I would agree Scott, but if you were getting out and decided to sell all the stuff you had, you still can't sell it unless you bought it for your car as a part. Anything other than parts you intended to put on your car can't be sold. No die casts, no manuals, no brochures, nothing. Our rules are lax but that's just way to restrictive. What if you died and your wife and kids tried to sell your stuff off? Same stupid chit.

Charlie, you ever been to the Corvette factory in Bowling Green?
I stopped there for a tour back in 1985 on my way to FL...it was cool!

Started to when I was in nashburg but never got around to it. There were several places I wanted to go to while I was up there but never took the time since I was working as much as I was.
